Major Mick Stanley has been to India following in the footsteps of 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers) whose exploits he describes in his book Blood and Dust.

Got it already, and a truly amazing book, 6 DG did a fantastic job of helping to recover from the atrocities vented upon the European peoples by the natives. They were also helped by many native units which were on the side of the Europeans. The diary of one Carabinier in the book is well worth a long read....
