Cannon Fodder ?

I read in today's Daily Telegraph that, in an attempt to up the numbers of  combat ready troops, those who have completed just their basic training can now be deployed on the front line. So, with no tactical training, no special to arm training, no infantry combat drills or any of the essential training needed to ready troops for combat, just a few weeks of drill, PT and assault course, a couple of range days et al, this country seriously considers these recruits are combat ready! What parent in their right mind would want their son or daughter to join today's armed forces??

Who is this lunatic who has espoused this order to HM Forces?? He/She/It must be a raving lunatic. Look at any sport you wish to mention, and every participant in that sport must prove himself via a great deal of training, instruction and guidance before they pick up anything more lethal than a knackered tennis ball of 50 years ago. If any of us look back on our training, we would never have been allowed to even look at anything more lethal than a fly swat with holes in it before they considered to order an attack on anyone... Training and the best equipment is VITAL to all in HM Forces, and a long training period at that, then during assessment, each individual would be watched carefully for any traits which would be contrary to the Military Bible, and liable to get said recruit dead before he/she   went out of barracks. The acid test, of course, would be for our leader, TM, to tell, nay order, the loon who made this idiotic suggestion to be first in line, armed only with a popgun and a wine bottle cork as ammo,  to face the nastiest of the present groups of terrorists and tell them to "Pop of home, old chap, or I may even use this fearsome weapon upon your person, with dire consequences for you, and probably me too, for using it in the first place" It would be like putting a flea up against a dirty great hulking Marine with 20 years service behind him. If the guy who ordered this lunacy believes it is the right action to take, HE should be first to pick up the popgun and fire it at the IS/ISIL fanatic who is pointing a kalashnikof at said trainee. So long nitwit..... Do all public school twits behave like this idiot?? God help us, and save us from these morons. WITHOUT the right weapons, nobody would dare to even think of attacking a heavily armed and well trained combat soldier, would they???. Where do they find these idiots??? Public Schools in UK no doubt. I bet the idiot could not tell a pistol from a sheet of paper.....AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH.....

If true (& newspapers do have a habit of distorting the truth sometimes, & not only the "Scum" 'paper), then it's recipe for disaster because the inevitable body count will cause a backlash over recruiting. When warned off for Op Banner tours, as we all know, we had extensive (& bloody realistic) training for months on end, and although we were cavalry troops converting to infantry roles on many tours in N.I, we were already well trained soldiers. To send raw recruits direct from Passing Off parades at say Catterick or Lichfield or Aldershot etc into the front line is tantamount to certain catastrophe - did we not learn from history, WW1 in particular ? Google "untrained soldiers to perform front line tasks due to manpower shortages " there are reports from several newspapers on the matter and confirmation from a MOD spokesperson that the reports are true. You couldn't make it up!,,

King Putin could be here next Monday at this rate of lunacy. You could NOT make it up could you??? I thought that the government took ADVICE from the Military in this country, and not tail wagging dog. I doubt if ANY of the loons who are advocating this lunacy know anything about war or its consequences, but they seem hell bent of saving money, but NOT the recruits lives if they are forced to fight when not fully trained and experienced.  And, of course, the cash saved would go on more pay for the MPs back pockets, and cojones to the troops they send to war. Untrained. ill equiped and inexperienced in life, never mind the probability of death at the hands of properly trained troops in many parts of the world. Will politicians never learn that novices like these recruits fresh from initial training  do not have the experience to do the combat thing, full stop?? The MOD must resist this stupidity now, or we may as well all surrender now, before we DO have another war on our hands. You could NOT make it up, could you???The new PM MUST stop this lunacy NOW, not in the future, and before any of our recruits are exposed to being cannon fodder for the experts with full training ready to attack. And that goes for the next generation of our nuclear deterrent too...
