Cars,Women ,what comes first ??

May 7, 2015

Hi All ......thought with all this politics etc I'd have a questioner on the best, first ,most reliable ,worst and finally the cheapest ????????? . So lets start with my first car in Detmold ,a Ford Taunus 12 M,basically a Ford Anglea/Prefect ,I learnt to drive in it , moved country ( BFPO41---Chester ) had 2 kids in it and did about 50000 miles before it died, nice car column change 3 forward 1 reverse  ( German not Italian  ) .....car number 2 a VW Fastback 1600 ,typical rear engine drive but fast ,no room in boot so sold it to Ronnie Johnson ( RIP ) .....by this time we are in Herford ,personally my worst posting, why well my MQ was in Osnabruck GMH, approx 65 k's on shitty roads. There was a guy Paul Hulse who bought a Renault 4 , cheap as chips ,economical ,4 doors, plenty of room,so yours truly bought one ,my first NEW car, ( now I've just my car serviced for £400, new breaks tyres etc) my 4 cost £ 395 .....yes £395 to buy with Naafi finance.Working in the D&M Wing in Herford under Gorden Hadfield he taught me how to stop too many miles on speedo ......daily journey 120/130 ks soon kills a car resale value....anyway great car ....part ex for a Ford Cortina  I think it was a sunday night car , brand new pick up from dealer ,travel approx a quarter of a MILE back axel ceased up , I found out later it was bone dry no fffn oil ,so this fffd the gear box crown wheel etc ...took the 2 weeks to fix it,never liked that load of shite....and not bought a Ford since ........so that takes me to 1973 ......to be cont'd ....you guys can blather TOO

Cars,Women ,what comes first ??

Bob, My first car was a little Honda S800 sports coupe, aluminium engine, which sounded like an angry wasp at full throttle, but  it did 80 mph no problem, then when I joined IBM I bought the first of my 4 Triumph TRs ( not all at once!) first a TR 4A, then 3 of the  TR6 fuel injection engined cars, and my good friend in IBM told a load of the girls in a data entry company in Liverpool that if they got in the TR, as soon as I started and moved off, the passenger seat flopped right back, the glove compartment flipped open, and a big metal hand flew out and ripped their knickers off!! They all shouted "me first" as they ran to the window to make sure I did have a TR6, which I did, but the story about the hand was untrue, ( I wish it had been true) though I did get a load of dates from that and other companies....It was great working in Liverpool...HAPPY days Bob!!
