Close to a mans heart?????..

March 11, 2016

What is he on about now , okay what's close to a mans heart ,his motor, you know the wife's taxi or grandads taxi .The beast you wash polish & clean at the weekend, now I could say also takes you to the pub ,but cheap supermarket booze has killed that trip ,takes you to see the kids and family ,oh and her indoors to the shops. The cost of running one of these is getting stupid ,in the 50 odd years I've been driving I had one accident, and that was in Herford 1970, so why ??? do I only get 7 years "no claims" on my policy when the last claim was over 35years ago.But you can go on about insurance for ever, now diesel or petrol engine ,here in Ireland diesel is 20% cheaper that benz, but the car is 2/3k more expensive.Ha you say but my nearest supermarket (Aldi/Lidless/Tesco) is 20 odd mile round trip ,nearest decent restaurant the same, nearest movies is 80 , so having a diesel is economically sound (I think) . My current car is a Hyundai,65ish to the gallon, here the road tax is €200 ,U.K. is £20 ,insurance and road side breakdown around €287 and is 6 years old and has 75k on the clock ,so averaging 12/13 k a year ( remember we're in India fo 2 months ).Remember when you had a car back in the day (60's) you were always under the bonnet, now these new cars (built by robots) are so so reliable, check oil,top up washer bottle, kick the tyres and drive and drive ,the biggest problem now is "Potholes " ,I was in Manchester a couple of weeks ago I could have been on the Somme (1916) the craters cos you can't call some of them potholes were enormous. The only difference between the UK and Ireland now is the MOT or NCT to us is ,new 4 years then every 2 years till its 10 years old then every year ,we have inspection centres too and it's at present €55 a go ....and my beauty passed today ,yippee, nearly good as Boom Boom last night ,oh I nearly forgot the result of the Irish election,we have a fecked up parliament so we more than likely have another election in May....and you Brexit guys are really having a negative effect over here ......keep it up
