Has Donald come up Trumps ???

He Is as mad as a bag of frogs BUT; not everything he says is bad. The idea of regaining control of US borders is sound. The idea to temporarily ban immigrants from the most prominent radical Muslim countries, those that seem to produce the most terrorists, until a more robust vetting procedure can be enacted is also understandable. But, he spoils it all by making no exception for green card holders, people who have lived in the states for decades or more, some of whom  are still serving as translators etc for the military. Before people rush to the barricades however,  they should not forget some 18 Muslim countries operate a blanket ban on Israelis entering their country, a lesser  but still significant number of those same countries won't even allow non Israelis with Israeli visa stamps in their passports to enter. Australia operates a very strict immigration policy, they also send anyone back on the next flight who they suspect wants to work there without a work permit or hasn't enough money to sustain themselves for their planned stay in Australia, oh and anyone with a police record for a wide range of offences is also usually sent packing. Look at the difficulties westerners have getting into Iraq, Saudi, and some other Muslim countries.  I believe we should have much better control over who comes here. I believe our own borders should be better secured. Better vetting should be in place, profiling of likely terrorists who try to enter our country, laws that allow us to  instantly deport undesirables etc are all measures I believe should be available to us. Some would likely call me a racist or xenophobic, the trouble is until we have the courage to ignore the name calling and the false cries of discrimination we will always be on the back foot in fighting terrorism within our own borders. And before anyone points it out, I do know that many terrorist acts in many western countries are committed by 'home grown" radicals.

Has Donald come up Trumps ???

Like Donald Trump or not, no one can deny he's keeping to his pre election pledges, so the "hand wringers" cannot moan they were not forewarned. With regards the 500,000 (so far) here in the UK who have signed a petition wanting Trump's visit here cancelled, his policies are America's policies and if we believe in democracy per se, not just when it suits, then they must respect the decisions of a democratically elected Leader. Any ban on him visiting would no doubt rebound on us anyway, ie, no trade deals ! I personally think his motives in imposing the immigration ban are correct, just the  application "across the board" not having been fully thought through enough. John (JKW)

JKW you are spot on, Trump was elected on his pledges. I suspect most people thought he would simply renege on those pledges if he got elected, like almost all politicians do. Those who thought that made one big mistake, Trump isn't a politician he's a business man. We invite all sorts of leaders to visit our shores who don't even remotely share our so called values. If we banned or ignored all the world's leaders who had different values to our own we would end up in a sorry state. I can't understand the illogical cries of those who think TM should have told Trump he was a prat and could stick his trade deals where the sun don't shine. The US is our biggest export market, it is the mainstay of NATO financially and militarily; should she have risked thousands of jobs, £billions of exports to appease the hard left, the treehuggers and the libtards? Not in my book she shouldn't have. It may yet all turn sour, Trump may yet not last the course but TM did what was best for the UK in her negotiations, she set aside any personal feelings and emotions and dealt with it all diplomatically and successfully. That means she must be slated by the media and the loonies.

David the banning of people who have visited certain countries only on holiday ( entry/exit) stamp has been a NO-NO here in India, when living in Rochdale my other had a invitation to a wedding nice ,but it was in Pakistan. As you know we like our winter breaks here in India who will often refuse a holiday visa if you've been to Pakistan, let alone Syria and China, this is were dual citizenship comes in handy, better still she's booked to go to Iran in April. Her British passport is for all the exotic travel as I call it and her Irish for India, mainly as her Irish passport has a charge of €50 were my British is €190 to holiday in Goa . Mrs May is a canny lass making the EU see there are other irons in the fire with her visiting the US and Turkey, she's already been to India. There's the old empire/commonwealth countries to add to the mix too,and it wouldn't take 7 years like Canada/EU treaty of last year ,not going by her timetable anyway. The deportation of undocumented/undesirables preachers of hate who are turning the home grown Muslims into bombers and Internet websites also converting the British Muslim to terrorists has to be vetted and if in doubt stopped ( as you know if China can ban/vet the Internet why can't we ,even certain tv channels) yep 1984 comes to mind but when in doubt kick the fecker out . Our left wing mamby pamby hand ringers forget that DEMOCRACY in a sovereign nation is the cornerstone that they need to be able to spout their crap ,as if the shoe was on the other foot they'd be the first to act putting their lunatic ideas into practice. Eh it's just over a week and the old adage "so far so good " for President Trump and his administration.
