Bob, The big problem is that the sponsors are from China and France, so out of bloody mindedness, spite or both, they could at any time switch it all off and leave us in UK cold, dark and pi**ed off. And UK eager for the blood of the loons who accepted the deal. Built next week, demolished a week later????

Bob, You are NOT alone!!! If these foreigners are paying the vast majority of the building and running costs, then they could close it down or restrict it to a minimum, or even demolish it, at any time, cos UK Limited would not be part of the main financier group who theoretically OWN the site.

On the plus side, it's going to provide shed loads of jobs for workers, (the majority I hope will be British) and a big boost to the local economy. In the long term, apparently we won't pay a penny until it's all up & running, with safeguards on the amount per Kw we can be charged. If either the French or Chinese turned "bandit" on us, they would be cutting off their own noses as payments would be stopped to them. We obviously can't, or won't, fund the project ourselves, so it's the way of the business world these days, to find sponsors who WILL pay - it usually means paying more in the long run, but does mean we get the end product whereas without external funding we probably wouldn't have.
