I Now Know Who Really Won The Election!

June 28, 2017

No preamble, no fancy words or rhetoric, the DUP won the election. They not only now hold the balance of power, they have also received shed loads of treasury money to stay on side and prop up the government. Every man, woman and child in Ulster now have some £2300 pa more spent on them than their counterparts in England. AND the DUP are quite open about the fact they will be back for more. To add insult to injury the alternative option of a Labour/SNP/SinnFein coalition is infinitely worse and just unthinkable. Some time ago I received a few thousand 'likes' for a piece I posted on the Huffington Post asking Americans, inter alia, how  such a powerful country as theirs, a so called leader of the free world, could allow a Trump to become their president. I am now having similar feelings about the mess we are in. How have we gotten ourselves into this  ridiculous situation? A weakened Tory government held to ransom by the "crackpot" DUP, our Brexit negotiation position severely undermined, a PM kept in power by her own party because to usurp her would lead to another election and, worse of all, latest polls indicate Labour would win an election if it was called any time soon. How could so many of the electorate really believe Corbyn and his cronies, aided and abetted by the SNP and possibly Sinn Fein, could even begin to govern our country and keep us safe and prosperous. May ran an appalling campaign, complacency and a crackpot manifesto lost her a swathe of support but to even begin to contemplate trusting Corbyn and co is just plain lunacy in my opinion. The lunatics are taking over the asylum. Did I mention the DUP are the only true winners of the election? Someone tell Labour!!

Fair points David, but the fightback has started - all Labour /SNP/ Greens/ Lib Dum attempts to derail the Queens Speech failed today, splits were found in Labour's ranks, and Tories closed ranks to give full backing to TM ( for whatever reasons !). Surely TM has learned valuable lessons from the Election fiasco ? If so, she needs to put those lessons into practice sharpish, and regain the trust, respect & confidence of all those she let down with her manifesto and election campaign, otherwise her time as PM will be shorter than expected. The only thing which may get us back on track is someone somewhere high in common sense and honesty  telling the rest of our so called leaders to knuckle down and stop point scoring, work together and be HONEST, a thing none of our leaders seem to understand. And TM must be more positive in voice than she has been so far. Corbyn and co could have been wiped out if she had  been more robust in her speeches, and commands, to her party. This is NOT the time to dilly dally, so go at the enemy in the RED corner, TM, all guns blazing.
