June General Election !!

April 18, 2017

So, our PM has challenged the country to back her by giving her the larger majority she feels she needs to stop the whingeing, back stabbing and anti Union "remoaners" from their delaying tactics. Good on her, I say, TM is just the sort of leader we need to take the country forward. Amazingly (to me, anyway), people are saying it'll give the LibDums a resurgence in popularity - if so, it'll only be because they think it will instigate another EU Referendum - fools ! Labour, under Corbyn, will get the drubbing they deserve, probably hastening the exit of their so-called "leader", which might just then prompt them into becoming a credible Opposition Party if they get the right person as i/c. Whatever, I do believe our PM has made the correct decision and I wish her luck, and success. Sky News though, will now have a field day, non stop 24/7 comment & coverage of the electioneering, and interviewing every man and his dog for an opinion- groan !!

John (JKW)

PS Where is Herr David ? - Not been on for a while, already missing his cultured comments !

Still here, I tried to open my post in German but gave up as predictive texting beat  me yet again.I absolutely concur with your opinion John. She is basically saying put up or shut up. I believe on her walking holiday in Wales she had a seminal moment resulting in a long talk with her husband. I believe the discussion might have centred on how peed off she was with all the in-fighting and division in Westminster. She probably thought, "trying to negiotiate a decent Brexit deal is going to be hard enough but without a clear mandate and a decent working majority I am on a hiding to nothing, why should I risk my political career and a potentiallydamning place in the history books if I get it wrong without having the support I need to do the job?". And she is right!! As an erstwhile committed Remainer she has adopted the outcome of the referendum with alacrity and an honesty seldom seen in politicians. She has shown a refreshingly decisive and morally upright leadership in my opinion. The Tories are not without fault it has to be said, I am not convinced they have handled defence or the NHS crisis with any degree of nous, the whole diesel saga is a kick in the nuts for millions of hardworking people who bought cars on the recommendation of previous governments. BUT; Theresa May is head and shoulders above any other likely candidate of ANY party to be PM. In her shoes I would have done exactly the same, without the clear backing of the country the risk she faces over Brexit negiotiations is simply not worth the taking. If she is hamstrung by not having a clear majority,in- fighting in Parliament and The Lords for every decision she tries to implement, facing the ineptitude and sniping vindictiveness of Corbyn, Fallon and that appalling Krankie woman she has little to no chance of gaining us a decent deal. The EU would drive a coach and horses through her plans and rub their hands with glee whilst doing so. According to the news she has said she will not take part in televised debates with other party leaders. Again in my opinion a wise decision. The country doesn't want to see all the false promises, the back stabbing, the name calling etc that emanates from these farcical broadcasts. As for the Krankie woman, she is hopping mad. A few months ago it was ' Theresa May doesn't even have a mandate to govern she wasn't elected to be PM'. Now she's undone by TM's ballsy decision. I pray the country gets behind the PM in great numbers, it's our only hope for the foreseeable future.

This is going to sort 3 problems as I see it from my location of an observer from an EU country . 1) The Brexit negotiations, why now TM will have sorted the infighting in the Tories and buried the rabble of Labour . 2) Wee Willy Cranky and freedom will be put in its place by uniting the Union. 3) this one is a little on the 50/50 ,yep you got it Northern Ireland,as they haven't sorted the executive since the beginning of March Gerry Adams lot being a pain in the arse . What they want now is the opportunity for a referendum on a United Ireland . The south don't want anything to do with Belfast as they carry too much baggage to be United. Yes June 8th election has a chance of getting the United Kingdom behind a canny woman who has taken a few months to evaluate the problem and keeping her powder dry has put it back in the hands of the people, whatever the result of the Brexit Hard/Soft or no deal ,the polls put TM and the Tories so far ahead and IF proven right this will show the EU that they to tread softly.
