Safe holidays abroad. .

February 28, 2017

Like you Bob, we've done our fair share of travelling abroad but have come to the conclusion that maybe now's the time to "staycation" as they call it, remaining in the UK for our holidays. Have often said, with so many beautiful places still to see in the UK, that IF we could guarantee the sunshine we'd never need to go abroad ever again. I've got just one more holiday type to do, & it's on my "bucket list", and that's a river cruise down the Rhine / Moselle, hopefully to be undertaken next year for our 50th wedding anniversary - just got to persuade Mrs W to fly again (2 lightning strikes approaching Chicago & "Bin Ladens" have put her off somewhat !!). Dare I say John we did the Nile cruise about 5 years ago ,a week all inclusive absolutely brilliant. The places that you've seen in all sorts of movies ( 007) and some great places to visit ( valley of the Kings ,Luxor temple complex) . On the security side ,just after the German tourists massacre in Luxor, was at times over the top ,bus convoys with armoured cars and lorries full of troops, our boat had 6 armed police/ soldiers at the gangway when in port . The main thing we were safe and there was enough bodies to sort out the chance of single gunmen, anyway still here ,one thing though most buildings didn't have any roofs must have been jerrybuilt . Now after the Russian aircraft attack you might be safe on the ground but coming home has a big big question against it .
