Guys, Never forget that our Ruperts learn these tactics/trades/terror training in their dorms at prep schools and the following years in their educational (?) establishments from the day they were born....  Directing tanks weighing 50/60 tons over bridges tagged as 20 tons in Germany comes to mind, among other wheezes (AKA destruction to us O/Rs... !!!) No change there then!!!  But nobody told them tanks do NOT float, and neither do cars...Tom

Best piece of graffiti I ever saw was on the wall of the wooden toilet block on Hohne Ranges - I was sitting there, looking around as you do, & spotted this gem adjacent to my "position" ; "You have just given birth to an officer" !!!               (apologies to Freddy !). John (JKW)

JKW, If our  ruperts were anywhere near intelligent, I would feel sorry (a tad) for them, but they really are a different breed. We had some such who took silk pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers in the German and other European forests, on exercises and border patrols, so we were fully amused by their antics... All we had was combat gear and a tarp draped over the 90 degree rotated gunbarrel IF we were lucky, but we just got on with it,,,,, When I was in Recce Tp I dread to think what some of our recce troop guys fed said occifer leaders(???) on border and training efforts. The amazing thing was they seemed to thrive on some very odd  foods..... but I never asked what their food was, it was probably deadly or worse..... If it was REALLY cold, engine decks kept us warm on tanks or Ferrets... Are the ruperts really that mad???? 3 character comments on such   appreciated!!!! The Tp Leaders driver had his recipe book, for the feeding needs of ruperts, but we stuck to compo packs normally.....Oh the memories.....Tom

Sinn Fein,I R A ,republicans, or the extreme left wing nuts in Ireland. Living on the isle of Ireland and having Gerry Adams lot as official opposition to the government of the day is an edification , now the lot in the North are not forming a power sharing government due to their " must" in having the Irish language being used in the North . Now the D U P have an agreement with the Tories that's another reason not to govern , the original reason months ago was over an Eileen Foster decision on a green heating cockup . The UK has given another billion or so to the North but that's not enough to get power sharing going ,Brexit, borders hard soft ,now fishing have caused enough pot holes to stumble into thus stopping the democratic local government or another excuse for rebellion. Yes nothing changes, will we have Direct Rule ??????

Direct Rule !?!  None of the Party's on this side of the Irish Sea seem to be able to "RULE" here, so couldn't possibly cope with ruling Northern Ireland as well ! The whole political scene is one big mess, & needs someone with the stature, presence & backbone of an "early Thatcher" to get it sorted - sadly, I cannot see anyone, of any political persuasion, capable of doing so. If I say Tony Blair , and then I say European President , what comes to mind ????Yes nothing changes He's out there blathering about what a bad deal it would be for Brexit to happen , me thinks it would a bad deal for Tony  as if the United Kingdom wasn't in the EU how could he be the Presidenty . Imagine His last position of power would be the ruler of the EU mmmmmm makes your eyes water doesn't it ,to think what He's after is the pension, then another biography to write . Why am I posting this idea ,well think He's not done a political job for the last 10 years and the only job of any worth was His job as a Middle East peacekeeper, and looking what's happened there His work wasn't reliable like when He was prime minister of the UK as we are still paying the price of His stewardship of the economy.

I don't think anyone in this country ,including Labour supporters, takes any notice of Blair's blathering's any more. He has been exposed as a liar, the person who opened the floodgates on benefits & immigration, drove our economy into monumental debt, and has the blood of a great many servicemen & women on his hands. Him & his money grabbing wife have made an absolute fortune through various schemes, all on "the coat tails" of being a former PM. I understand he is regarded as the most hated Prime Minister we've ever had, a vote I would ascribe to. He now wants to cling onto power, via the EU, hence his longing for us to remain "servants" of the EU so he can, as Bob says, become EU President. Tony Blair ( "BLIAR" ?) should retire gracefully, & get out of the limelight by shutting up, because no one wants to listen. John (JKW)
