Term Time Holidays

April 7, 2017

That guy yesterday lost his case regarding taking his kid out of school during term time to go on holiday & must pay a fine. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that with a family holiday taken abroad costing £1500-£2000 MORE during August compared to a June one during term time, I don't blame the parents for doing so. Any child with a decent attendance record would hardly have his studies much affected by missing one, even two weeks out of a whole year, in fact, if it was a continental holiday, that same child might learn more about foreign culture than he / she would by sitting in a classroom. As with the David Moyes saga, much a- do about a load of guff really. Incidentally, this ruling ONLY applies to England - obviously  the Jocks, the Taffs and the Paddies have more common sense than those sitting in London who passed the judgement !

We holidayed in southern France  ,mobile home/chalet near beach €200 a week upto July 5/6th ,then €1200 . Fly Ryanair midweek Cork -Liverpool €9.99 each way, weekend € 39.99 ( if booked months ahead )  movies pre 5pm a fiver then €8/9 after that time . The guy is right to stand by his guns ,why well the people making the rules have their children in private schools not state ,they can do what they want plus they're not having to spee where the next £ or € is coming from . If you do the maths a £60 fine maybe the only option to get a cheaper holiday?????
