Read this recently, can't guarantee its veracity but it made me smile!!

83 year old army vet arrives at Charles De Gaulle airport Paris, gets to the customs/immigration desk fumbles in his bag for his passport. Officious customs officer berates him and asks him if he has ever been to France before. He replies that he has indeed been to France once before. Customs officer tells him in that case he should know to have his passport ready. Vet replies that he never had to show his passport on the last occasion he was there. Customs officer tells him  that is impossible all foreigners entering France had to show their passport. The vet replied; "well the last time I was in France it was to come ashore during the DDay landings and there wasn't a fu****ing Frenchman to be seen anywhere to show my passport to". Made me think firstly of my pa who was there having been evacuated from the beaches during the previous disastrous landings as well as the tens of thousands of guys who sacrificed themselves for us. Secondly, it brought home to me how quickly, as we battle our way through the Brexit issues, the French and many other countries forget those  sacrifices and the major part this country played in the freedom and democracy they enjoy today. Just  thinking out loud!

The sacrifice of British forces in both world wars to ensure mainland Europe's future is indeed a distant memory for many of today's generation.  Lewis Hamilton booed in Austria on the podium was it just because he beat their German neighbour or because he is British, methinks the latter. Perhaps if a non-Brit is on the podium next week at Silverstone our fans can return the favour. Had the roles been reversed on Sunday I think Lewis would have got a much tougher penalty than Rosberg did, 10 second penalty ensured he maintained his fourth place hence minimizing the damage to his overall lead in the championship. It is clear the Europeans are miffed with our referendum result.

Britain has for centuries been the only nation which had any control over the antics of the European nations in most wars since Willie Conk got in the backdoor. And HE started bumping off his so called allies of the time!! The French would be just as demoralised if we in UK told them that the Moon is NOT made of Cheese of ANYnationality... or that they have not a cat in hell's chance in any war in which they wish to fight us anywhere, any time, no reason refused.... Roll on "Return from Europe" Day. They have always been bad losers, and poor allies. The EU nations (less UK) have always been jealous of us in UK. It goes back further than Willie Conk and his loony crew of idiots. As for the rift between Hamilton, Rosberg and their motor racing team, they are all daft, they are in the same team, for God's sake. No loyalty between any of them then!!!!! Typical continental Europeans again, roll on Freedom from EU Day...
