Will this latest restriction save life’s ???

March 22, 2017

We had a restriction on liquids, shoes, belts etc for a decade or so through various attempts to bring aircraft down . Laptops had to be separated from other parts of your luggage going through the x-Ray machines machines, then there was in some airports a body sized x-Rays with metal detectors. This has so far been a success for people flying from Europe/USA , and now we have "new" intelligence on tablets/laptops being restricted in the cabin . My question is since we had Samsung phones catching fire last year when on charge is this one of the reasons for the ban ,being a grey head who holidays in India who x-Ray "ALL" luggage wether in the hold or carry on. This means a lot of suitcases being opened prior to your flight and things like cigaret lighters being removed and confiscated. There a lot of countries on the list of the UK and the USA for this ban ( Canada is now talking about a similar ban) ,the traveling public has to be safe, they also need to be educated on modern terrorists technology that can kill them on their flight . Myself and my family have been travelling all over the world and had restriction on fruit into Australia and the such like ,this means if you don't want to have problems getting on your flight we read the small print on do's and don'ts prior to our flight, common sense. This latest ban is an inconvenience, but if it means traveling safely get the airport early for these new checks .

In my opinion if it aids safety and security it's good. Despite having flown literally hundreds of times I am a nervous flyer. I don't enjoy it at all. Anything that is necessary to guarantee I don't end up unintentionally freefalling out of the sky is good with me!! I was once taken out of the queue and stripped to my boxers in Cleveland Hopkins Airport when a security scare was on, didn't phase me one bit.

Bet it fazed you though David !! Since being struck by lightning TWICE on a flight approaching O'Hare airport Chicago, and seeing the port engine aflame, my wife isn't too keen on flying any more either ! The days of actually enjoying the airport experience as part of the holiday are now long gone IMO, the inevitable delays ( without information as to why), the security checks( admittedly an absolute necessity) and constant slow moving queues all tend to take the gloss off today's travelling, plus, even when arriving at your destination airport, the worry that your suitcases actually flew on the same 'plane ! PS - why is my case ALWAYS the last onto the carousel !?! John (JKW)

David I had a similar experience at O'Hare Chicago after flying in from Manchester, with an onwards flight to Vegas . I must admit the yanks were very firm and polite, thankfully I had clean shreddies on .
