Eric Pritchard

Just a short note to pass the news that my uncle, James George (Jim) White, previously of the 3rd Carabiniers, served in India and Burma, tank driver, died at the age of 95 on 31st January 2016, and was cremated 5th February. He joined in 1936 and was transferred to the 3rd Carabiniers from the 9th Lancers (when it was found he was a little too young to have joined up!)

If anyone has any information on his military career it would be much appreciated.

Service records can be obtained from the MOD.  Google "Veterans UK" and access the Gov UK site.  Follow the link "How to obtain service records".  The relevant forms can then be found.   There is a Trooper G White listed in SSM Craddocks note book on this site (see Archives, photos, RSM Craddock).  He is shown as HQ Troop.  His service records or his army number if you have it, will confirm if it is the same person.  If it is the same person, there is an account of the Battle of Nunshigum in which he will have been part of, again in RSM Craddocks listings.
