And Now For Something Completely Different
July 9, 2017
I reckon I am a live and let live kind of guy generally speaking, especially when it comes to sexuality and such matters. I care not a fig if someone is gay, bisexual, trisexual, trans or whatever. I confess to not being a particular fan of 'mincers' but I have known and worked alongside gay people who didn't parade their sexuality as a badge of honour, people who were discrete and dignified and, above all, were just good, decent people. But for the life of me I simply cannot understand or come to terms with yet another media frenzy regarding a man who gave birth to a child. What is it that these people don't understand? Men cannot give birth. A woman transgendering to be a man who gets pregnant and bears a child is still a freaking woman. To my mind she always will be, biologically, no matter what clever surgeons cut off, sew on etc etc. What sort of message are we sending to kids these days. Imagine for a moment as a kid, you had just had the birds and the bees story told to you, school had just begun sex education, you were just coming to terms with how nature worked and you suddenly get hit with the news a man has borne a child. How confusing must that be for kids?? I heard a debate on TV where a transgender woman, ( previously a male teacher) said kids today are resilient and easily coped with that sort of thing as it was normal. Not in my book it isn't! It's anything but normal, it's unnatural and should never be sold as anything else. I absolutely get that some people really do feel they are born into the wrong gender and they should not be stigmatised but has anyone else noticed how the prevalence of transgenders has so rapidly increased over the past couple of years? It's a contentious and evocative topic but one that should stimulate some lively debate. Or not!!!!!

well said David, I also do not care whether a person is gay, lesbian etc, live and let live if someone wants to strip off and pray to a tree let them do it , my problem only arises when they try to make me do it, the thought however did cross my mind, that if our erm erm erm Muslim/Islamist ! friends ! get into power there will be a lot of throwing off high buildings, stonings, and other gory methods trying to bring about their status quo. I get your media frenzy quote also, it is the same as the Corbynistas not under standing that you do not win if you come second by any measure, as Bill Shankly said, there is 1st and then nowhere. I think that this Momentum move within the Labour Party, is just another name for Militant Tendency ( dangerous ). Yes there does seem to be a preponderance of TGs in the public eye at the moment, but there also seems to me to be too many gay/ lesbians in positions of power in government, proportionately speaking that is.

I too, have eased my original feelings re those who "bat for the other side" providing it's not blatant, but despite not being a regular church goer ( but am a Christian) I am against same sex marriages taking place in church - it is NOT natural to have these relationships in my view, but live & let live, if two of the same sex wish to be together so be it, if they're happy and don't impose their tendencies on others then OK, but don't expect the church to give the same blessing as a "straight" marriage enjoys. I remember when "gay" was to describe someone being happy - to say someone is "frolicking with gay abandon" these days conjures up a totally different picture ! John (JKW)

David and JKW, I agree to all you say, and as long as everyone takes care not to create a divisive subculture, hell bent on making their culture/sexual preferences the norm, we can at least know of it, but not subscribe in any way. In school, we had a lad who was a bit that way, but he never said or did anything to convert others. And he was a great soccer player....(not that that mattered!!) He was Evertonian though!
