BREXIT and Article 50

January 24, 2017

So, sadly, as I predicted the law lords upheld the decision that enacting Article 50 requires parliamentary approval, an Act Of Parliament no less. That won't be the major hurdle though, there are more MPs for it than against it, the enactment of Article 50 will go ahead as planned. The real hurdles the Government  face will be the terms of the exit. Labour will hold them to ransom on the single market issue because Corbyn actually endorses the free movement requirement that is enshrined in the single market membership constitution. The SNP will vote against everything because  they want to stay in the EU and they didn't get judicial endorsement of the Scottish devolved parliament's "right"  to be consulted and to have a vote on it. The Lib/Dems want a second referendum because they claim the electorate would now vote differently, (that movement is bankrolled by Branson), Clegg has already said he will vote against Article 50 and everything that follows. What a complete dogs bollocks the whole thing is. I am in no doubt that we WILL leave the EU and it has to be within two years of invoking Article 50 but Europe us gloating over our shambolic situation. Gloating because our disarray is the best possible deterrent to other countries contemplating a similar move. I loathe the way politicians abuse the best interests of the country as a whole to further their own ideologies and futures.

David, I hadn't seen your post until after I'd posted my thoughts under "General Chat" - maybe Freddy can put them both under the same Forum to save  responses becoming isolated ? Regards to all looking in, John (JKW)

There is no National unity nowadays. We've now got Richard Branston (who doesn't pay tax in this country) sticking his oar in. As for that woman...... She was helped in this mess by a Spaniard. No doubt T Blair and his lot are gloating over the result over their champagne.

Just been watching Beeb world news and some German MEP is on about the UK having to pay €60 billion if it wants to leave the EU . This is to do with the EU deficit etc and planned spending for 2019 , yea I can see the British government trying to sell that to the country when we need monies for health, housing etc . Just give us the money but we can't ordit our accounts for the last 10 years or so, some swear words come to mind. Now Lepen has declared her idea of Frances future in Europe and euro zone the coming months look very interesting.
