How The MightyHave Fallen

November 20, 2016

David, You're obviously not privy ,as I've  been, to see the Chancellors Autumn Statement in advance of Wednesday's announcement ! In it he declares that Defence spending will be increased to 4% of GDP, HS2 is cancelled with the planned funds going direct to the NHS & research institutions, fuel tax will be reduced , the State pension triple lock will continue, income tax threshold to be raised, Overseas Aid drastically reduced to help fund these changes, our Armed Forces will be withdrawn from both Iraq & Afghanistan to let them sort themselves out, and Wee Nicola Krankie Sturgeon will be sent to the Tower for treason. Some might not believe one or two items I've let slip, but those pigs flying overhead assure me  I'm correct !! John (JKW) PS Agree with your assessment of the threat we face from Putin's gang, he really is flexing his muscle at the moment, testing the water whilst doing so.

How The MightyHave Fallen

So the Navy that ruled the worlds oceans ,gave Britin its security to have an empire that covered a quarter of the earth ,destroyed all that came against it on the high seas ,fed the nation thro 2 world wars !! Now they have 19 frigates/destroyers ,2 super carriers ( with no aircraft till 2020??) I can only say that my Dad who did his duty during WW2 serving in all the major oceans/ seas must be turning in his grave . For fecks sake this is an island ,can someone tell those politicians who run the MOD ,once Brexit happens we have to protect our fishing industry as well our merchant fleet .I suppose I should have realised now that our old regiment has only 300 or so serving soldiers down from the 600 odd from our day ,that the other services would have treated the same ,shite.
