Islam a phobia

Umm, it's a contentious issue. Radical Muslims are responsible for so much of the mayhem, death and destruction that prevails globally. They hate non Muslims, they consider us to be degenerates and unworthy of life, they despise all non Muslims and will often go to any lengths to propogate their religion including mass murder. BUT, they don't speak or represent the vast majority of Muslims world wide. Even in some radical  Muslim strongholds such as Iran millions of the people there are subjugated and made to conform to Sharia and radical Muslim ideologies on fear of death.   Here at home most British Muslims are moderates and the overwhelming majority of them want nothing other than what we all want. A decent home, job, family  etc. We have several difficult issues to deal with. On the one hand we (myself included) don't think our Muslim communities do enough to deter or to speak out about 'home grown' terrorism. Very few British Muslims are prepared to publicly condemn such acts, even fewer would inform on those within their communities they feel might be involved in terrorism. On the other hand by stigmatising or abusing the moderates we simply provide the fuel for the radicals to idealogicalise the disgruntled and impressionable Muslim youth who might be susceptible to radicalisation. Without being a namby pamby or in any way subscribing to the PC brigade it is my personal opinion that it is unwise and unacceptable to deride anyone's religion. Some folk don't really understand the paramount part that religion plays in many people's lives, Muslims in particular. There are so many other ways for football supporters to tease players without resorting to religion as a weapon. Just my personal opinion, I usually don't discuss religion with anyone but this is a site where we can hold sensible and knowledgeable discussions.....Thank God!!

Islam a phobia

The banner headline which Sky thoroughly enjoyed showing all morning was that "Kick It Out" (an organisation that monitors racism in football) denoted Islamophobia was "greatly increased since the Brexit vote" !!! There was no mention of the fact that countless acts of terrorist murder have been committed by Muslims throughout Europe since Brexit too, and  that just possibly (!?!) those atrocities could be the reason for the increased Islamophobia, & nothing whatever to do with Brexit. I am NOT a racist (LFC's best player is a Muslim !!), but neither am I a Sky, Channel 5 or BBC remoaner, all of whom I dearly wish would present the news in an unbiased manner - after all, that is their remit I would have thought.
