The AA have just released a new survey on the use of phones whilst behind the wheel . The figures are frightening as they state about 46% of us drivers note people are on the phone everyday, and further 27% see it on a regular occasion. Living as I do in a country where the Garda/ police are as rare as the Do Do bird on the roads I'm in agreement, only last week I had to do an emergency stop as a farmer was pulling out of his gateway with a trailer on the phone and didn't see me ( feckin hairy) ,then had the cheek to smile and wave . Modern technology has made holding the phone to your ear a thing of the past ,the other big " killer" is speed amongst our younger drivers, remembering my old Taunus could only do 120 ks an hour so speed wasn't in my vocabulary, but now kids get behind the wheel of very fast cars/ bikes . Over here we have so many single car accidents only last Friday 2 young guys died and the other 3 ended up at A and E all under the age of 20 ,nuff said .
