Too true Bob - "been there, got the T shirt"!! It really is amazing how much  can be saved by shopping around and/ or haggling. I've already related recently my own experience with reducing my payments to Sky, but also got my Ma in Law's house insurance (buildings & contents) annual premium down from £246 to £105 (Lloyds to LV), and, by persuading her to get a free water meter, reduced her d/d payment for water supply from £56 pm to £25. These companies rely on people being too lazy or too elderly to challenge their incoming bills, and thus take advantage by hiking up the prices hoping no one will notice. The internet and the phone can be powerful allies in the fight against opportunism by these people, but of course, many of the older generation don't like using either - my 88 year old Ma in Law thinks the "mouse" is a wee rodent, and is literally terrified of answering the phone, although can phone "out" in an emergency. In general terms, people of her generation were brought up to be subservient to their elders or those in positions of authority, never doubting the integrity of such people and therefore reluctant to ever question their methods , pricing or policies. Fortunately, our experiences have altered that perception, ie, "Don't trust any of 'em" !! John (JKW)

Honest David ,and when I called Sky to upgrade to the variety pack ( another €9.50) the female at the other end asked how Sebastian ( who's in his 20's) did , as he had fitted her "Q" box upgrade . Tall young men who are presentable in Ireland are at a premium for the opposite sex . Mind you he was very efficient and only drank one cup of coffee.

David on names in the Indian sub continent Goa being mainly a catholic region/state ,our beach shack owners granddaughter was called ,wait for it " MABEL" and his youngest son was. PETER . The influence of the Catholic Church is prevalent,so Michael,John,Peter and plenty of Mary's ,and the churches there are all white and immaculately clean and full on every mass or saints days .
