Something that really gets up our nose ??

December 31, 2015

Not a lot gets up my nose apart from; Jeremy Corby and Diane Abbot. Overseas aid being wasted while our own people suffer. More British money donated for flood victims in  other lands than that spent on our own. Donors to political parties being knighted. The whole EU debacle. The whole immigration debacle. Police and armed forces numbers being decimated while we are facing huge terrorism threats. Jeremy Corbyn. The whole fat cat union leaderships and the hold they have on the Labour Party. Diane Abbot and her leering face spouting nasty left wing politics. The treatment of British soldiers  threatened with court action over Bloody Sunday and other such events. Nicola Sturgeon and the  radically nationalist element of the SNP. The constant whinging of those in Scotland who still want independence even after the collapse of oil prices and the disaster Salmond would have heaped upon them had they been successful. The procrastination over the date of the EU referendum. The lack of any global cohesion in the fight against ISIL. Jeremy Corby and Diane Abbot......I know, I know!! The declining state of the NHS. Having to pay 40% tax at my age!! I'll stop there because now I come to think about it there is an unendless list of issues that get right up my nose and a new year is just around the corner!!

Wow David - that's one BIG Nose you've got for something to get up it !! Must admit, I agree with your list, and add road cones to it too - yesterday, whilst travelling to Liverpool, the Knowsley Expressway (a long stretch of dual carriageway) had mile after mile of cones cordoning off a lane on both sides and for what ? No work was getting done, no workers or equipment was even in sight, yet hundreds of motorists were severely inconvenienced. The cynic in me thinks it was in readiness for the grass verge cutting to be done in APRIL !! Happy New Year to All, & keep checking the Lotto numbers ! John (JKW)

John you mentioned roads bad bad ,now with David's list I agree with 200% of his gripes but you just mentioned traffic cones and left it there .I like a lot of you guys have been driving all sorts  of vehicles for over 50 years ,you know chariots to motorbikes ,so the modern youngster think they've invented speed, what do I mean, well let's get a list going .....tail gating ......no indicators (look mum I've turned )............you'll see I've not mentioned the fairer sex or mobile beauty parlour or even mobile phones ,that would be affecting their human rights .I 'll finish my list or I could be here till 2017 ,you guys can put your pet hates on posts ....welcome to 2016

JKW, hey, when I was a boy in posh Mossley Hill L'pool 18, we used to think Knowsley was not only out of bounds, but not a real part of our entire world. We never went through there with less than 20 of us, and that was in broad daylight! But it does seem to be quieter these days! The lads there could take the socks off your feet without taking your shoes off first!! I would also include Skelmersdale in this too. Now serious thoughts..I agree fully with David, and all he writes above, and with you over road cones.... Perhaps the council do not have anywhere else to store them in these dire days of "no cash" in the kitty for storage buildings. So long as Anfield, home of you know who, remains free of interference from our so called leaders, we have something to be happy with...!! I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016, our RSDG comrades, past and present, and even including the rebellious civilian ruling element (all 3 of them) North of the Border.

Actually Bob, I was born a "Mak-em" if you know what that means...but we moved to Liverpool in the 1950-s, where my Dad got a job with General Electric in Kirkby after he left Merchant Navy after many years, including WW2. No doubt someone on this site will put you right, but not me, (yet).....

I wonder how many members are fed up with the incessant chant of ""RACISM"". Every reference to a person's colour or religion results in being classed as being a RACIST. The word racist refers to a person's race not religion. The use of the N word raises instant reaction, why when we hear many persons to which the word applies; making free use of the word. Where has (supposed) Free Speech gone to ! I was always told:"Sticks and Stones may break my bones etc": Now it seems that a casual remark can cause more damage than a physical attack. The world of PC has taken over our (supposed ) FREE SPEECH. I have tried very hard not to be racist in my opinion and comments. Hopefully the Phantom Daffodil does not strike again. (Any one who served in Catterick with HQ Sqn will know what I mean. )

A word for the 'new boys'. Please be patient when you post. We were seriously hacked and hacked off last year and now have systems in place that take a bit of time to check what is going on. So press reply and wait! It will happen. Incidentally JKW I thought it was Lothian Barracks Detmold? I hope I am not about to double tap! Freddy
