We should really set up a fund to pay for activities of this sort, so that you are not out of pocket.I will gladly contribute to any idea to help. Tom

Tom this has nothing to do with the site-I merely pass on the info if anyone else is fed up with nuisance calls. The phone companies have no interest in stopping them as they earn money from them I am sure. I do not wish to speak too soon but the site is trotting on quite well at the moment. We are able to filter out the undesirables who wish to cause trouble. If we have a major hack again we might have to pass the hat around to get it put right but for the moment we are OK out. Freddy

Freddy I signed up for the faster broadband deal as well on 12 December. Because they quoted me the wrong price they have blocked the order even though they have twice told me they will honour the price they gave me etc. They then offered me the 32£ deal at £27 after a formal complaint, meant to go live last night but they have told me there is a new technical issue. The junction box for fast fibre is 100 Yards from my house, the BT Open reach engineer opened it in my presence showed me my connection and explained there was eons of capacity to connect me. TT have behaved appallingly with me I am glad you fared better, best wishes David.

What can I say !?! I've never been as happy as I am now having got rid of TalkTalk, and have not had any scam calls of any sort since my exit from their clutches !  In addition, the connection problems I had on a regular basis with T/T  are now a thing of the past - my speed however, is still settling down I think (PlusNet reckon it takes  10 days or so to stabilise), at present its 36MBps which, although not superfast for a fibre connection, is at least reliable . Incidentally, despite the fact I have it in writing that I don't owe a penny to T/T, I notice they've kept a £12 charge (for what I don't know) on my now defunct account, although in fairness they've not contacted me yet to pay it ! Good luck with them Freddy, but might be an idea to enrol for night classes in Indian/ Pakistani "speak" in order to communicate if a problem arises ! John (JKW)

John, had a chat call today with South Africa via a young lady called Saba Ndlovula, happy to help she said. Why didn't my broadband package go live I ask. Technical issue she says. What technical issue I ask, can't say she says. Why can't you say I ask, not on her crib sheet she admits. Someone from TT rang you she said you failed to answer. They rang but hung up after three rings before we got to the phone I explain. Not possible she said they always wait for the customer to answer. I am screen shotting this chat to send to TT CEO I tell her. You will be called tomorrow between 1 and 2 pm she said and vanished into cyber space! I am lucky we are no longer contracted to TT, we have it writing that they have rejected my broadband upgrade and they failed to honour the contract so I am  now seeking a new Broadband provider, wish me luck. The very best of dishes to you by the way, you made the right move.

David,  Thanks for your update, I wish you  luck ! I'm amazed they're still in business ; the customer "service" is atrocious, the router I had wide open to hacking (since smashed with a club hammer incidentally !), and the connection to broadband increasingly diabolical in my experience. Apart from all that, everything was fine !! Best dishes, as always John (JKW)

Had a complaints manager called booked today 1-2 pm. No call. Went on chat again got another Zulu woman from SA, charming, abso freaking lutely useless but very polite. Lots of "so sorry" "I understand", no you freaking well don't. She told me the arranged call had been put back to 26 Jan at 9 am. I said her colleague told me yesterday that the call would be today between 1-2. She explained the change had only been made today just before I rang, of course it had and I'm a fast jet fighter pilot! Anyway, long story short, I ended the chat. Veronika came in and showed me a TT missed call on our mobile at 1;30!! We told TT there was hardly any reception in our village and to call us on our landline. So the rearranged call hadn't been rearranged at all and they had ignored my request to use our landline. I am now done, they have beaten me. I have written a formal complaint letter, spoken to the Phillipines, Durban, Mumbai, Preston, to the order management team, the complaints team, the chat team, the technical team and the engineer. Any further forward? Not one millimetre. In a way I'm glad because now I am forced to go elsewhere and get a proper company on the job. Have to admit it's the first time ever I have conceded defeat in such a matter but I am just worn out with it all. Got better things to do with my life. h   .

Caller I D the numbers that are a pain 031/091 ,Vietnam and India these are calling us at least once a day saying the usual " your computer is broke" or you need whatever . We in Ireland can have our numbers unlisted. Is this the case in the U.K.? This would stop a lot these unwanted feckin calls . Oh I nearly forgot I did WIN €2 million a couple of years ago but had to pay €3 k to get it yuk yuk off to the beach !!!!

Little point in going ex directory with talk talktalk, they leak data like a sieve! Peace reigns here, the truecall box has blocked two scam calls so far both of which judging by their numbers were from people purporting to be from talktalk. People are leaving talktalk in droves which is hardly surprising but I read today that BT are putting up their prices for broadband. Freddy

Freddy, the old adage "You get what you pay for" seems particularly relevant here - I'm paying far more with PlusNet (albeit now with a Fibre connection) than I ever did with TalkTalk, but the absence of scam calls, total lack of connection problems and knowing my security on-line is much increased, makes the price difference well worth it. David, Too right, far better things to do with your life than wasting it trying to get TalkTalk to act responsibly. You'll obviously keep copies of your correspondence with them (I also kept a log of all contact regarding my exit), so now (even if, like me, it'll mean costing a few quid in compromise to extricate yourself), just choose your new ISP and they'll do the switch for you without your further contact with T/T in any way whatsoever. Best Dishes to you both, John (JKW)

Freddy you are right, BT are raising their prices, read it today. Apparently to pay compensation to customers receiving poor service from them!! £2.50 a month increase or thereabouts seemingly. John, you are so right apropos you pay for what you get. The truth is I don't mind paying for quality, a hassle free, fast, responsive service is well worth a bit extra in my book, as is having a support network that is based in the UK. That isn't racist or xenophobic but I can't express properly  how frustrated I get talking to robots, speaking from scripted sheets with no decision making abilities and in accents I simply find too wearying to comprehend. They are unfailingly polite, they may even want to help but they just can't in the majority of cases. I am no longer in contract with TT as my standard package contract expired some time ago, the new one I tried to set up with the faster fibre option was rejected by them after they confirmed it in writing, they are probably legally in breach of contract themselves. Yesterday during the chat the agent said, in writing, I would be compensated. Frankly they can take a running jump. Hey ho onwards and upwards life is too short to get embroiled in the vagaries of dealing with such an appallingly bad company. Best Dishes, David. Ps I love that bit of nonsense, best dishes, here we are a group of septuagenarians almost,or just about, wishing each other best dishes. Who started that off I wonder ?? Probably some numpty or other. Moi??

John I hope the scam calls stop now you have left talktalk. I have read however that with your info already leaked they may not cease immediately. On another point I sometimes do a little edit particularly from incoming from the Indian Ocean! I was poised to amend dishes when it occurred to me that this may be a secret 3DG code! Finally please visit the Obituary page for details of Ken's funeral.Freddy

But, a leprechaun told me you have a huge farmhouse Bob, surrounded by half of Eire as your back garden. Everything comes at a price, would you swap your rural idyll for a town or city life with cheaper, better comms ? Didn't think so, nor would I. Next time you speak to Tom please give him my regards, I think I told you he rang me out of the blue some time ago, we had an hour's catch up and some deep reminisces! Anyway hope Goa is good, the weather where we live is "merde" cold, very cold and wet. I wanted to send you best "dishes"but I'm not sure if you are, or were, in the "I hate Talk Talk" club. I think, not sure but I think, Freddy is beginning to wonder about the whole best dishes issue lol.
