The Debates

April 3, 2015

I never watched last evening's debate. I just point blank refused to get myself het up about 7 people lying, posturing, making false promises, sniping at each other, talking over each other et al. I will make my choice at the election based on the record of who I choose, their economical literacy, their ability to lead us out of austerity, their trustworthiness. It will., I know, be a least worst choice I have to make but it certainly won't be one that supports the "spend, spend, spend, uncap benefits, trash Trident and open the floodgates of immigration even further" parties of either England OR Scotland. Sadly I think a vote for UKIP will help create the unholy alliance of SNP/Labour. The press today is FULL of opinions about who "won" the debates and each newspaper has a different poll result. In all of these debates issues I recall Clegg last time emerging as the far and away best politician to emerge from the Televised 3 way debate twixt Broon/Cameroon and himself . And just look how he turned out, a direct opposite of everything he portaryed in the debates. Like I said, they are worthless. Guess I will be reluctantly sticking with the Tories and hope they DON't decimate the services even further. Samantha Cameron's pa Reggie Sheffield (Sir) lives literally just down the road from us and I used to work with her stepmom  Victoria (Lady Sheffield) maybe I'll have a word with one of them!!

Dave, If you do have a word, remind her that oil has just been discovered off the Falklands , so Sam Cam's pa needs to tell son in law David C NOT to decrease our Services any more - we might just need 'em sooner than later ! Like you, I didn't want to watch a potential 2 hour squabbling, lie telling tirade from 7 people who all individually think they know what's best for us, yet in reality, most just want to feather their own nests. Amazing how each newspaper noted (differently) who "won" the debate - if anyone was unsure, each one clearly nailed their colours to the mast, whilst also proving how they can twist anything to suit. Dave, I too will probalby end up voting for the least worst candidate or the best of a bad bunch.  It would never happen but we should have a final choice 'None of the above'.  We all know it will never be an option because it would be the only way the electorate can truly show their displeasure with the whole sorry bunch.  Not that I am looking for any sympathy but given the political landscape in my constituency in West Lothian our local Tory candidate has ablosutely no chance, sadly way to many of my local community cannot get over Maggie and the Poll Tax. Scottish Labour is every bit as bad as Milliband's Labour, the Lib Dums are possibly even less likely to win than the Tories so I find myself swaying toward SNP!!!!!! I don't want Independance, I don't want to see Trident being scrapped but our local SNP candidate is speaking more sense than the others on what needs to be done in our local constituency.  My only hope in the big picture is that the voters in the constituency that Salmond is contesting have better opposing candidates than I have and we at least keep Salmond out of Westminster.
