the house of the unelected

Agreed Bob, but what's so annoying is that they (House of Lords) know they cannot change things but are purely flexing their muscles and making out they're important when in reality they must know that no one takes any notice of them ! Good on the PM for sacking Heseltine, he's a "dinosaur" but an obnoxious & dangerous one who is past his "sell by date" now because he will never come into the "real world", still believing the EU is a great institution that's serving us well. From what I understand about the "lords" is that there are 8  feckin hundred of them ,all claiming thousands from the state for sleeping in the chamber . Yes we should have another chamber to be able to monitor the Commons, making amendments when necessary, but being made a lord, baron or baroness does not mean you can reject the democratic elected government . Yes make the Parliament see another ways of governance but not rejecting,if their amendment have a sound base okay . My own thoughts are what the USA have ,an Elected second house for a prescribed time similar to the Parliament, but not elected at the same time. But I can dream !!
