Windows 10

January 11, 2018

I was "asked" by Windows to install the latest update - nothing surprising there & so I did , with it closing down on completion. The next day, when starting up, checking my emails was very sluggish, but worse, I was unable to access ANYTHING on my Microsoft Edge platform - I was faced with a blank grey screen looking daft at me ! I tried everything to get it going, including removing the latest Windows update, all to no avail.

The next day (having hoped in vain that the problem would have fixed itself !), and having even Googled for a solution, again with no answer, I searched everywhere on my PC for possibilities. It was then, under Applications, I noticed Trusteer Rapport ( a known security app ) had somehow been installed at the same time as the Windows update - I certainly did NOT request it, but remembering from a number of years back I suffered mega problems with Rapport on a lap top I had, I uninstalled it & BINGO, problems all solved, in fact my PC is running faster than ever ! I know some people reckon Rapport is "spotty dog" (as Billy Pownall used to say), but my experience is that it's a real menace & to be avoided at all costs. So, if anyone on the Forum has had problems, just check Trusteer Rapport hasn't sneaked into your system, & if so, get rid fast !
