Simon (Jim) Hardy

Hi, hoping you can help me find Simon Hardy, we joined JLR together in 1967 and he was badged to 3rd Carabiniers. He would have joined the Regt in January 1970. Five of us joined from Hereford, four of us are in contact with each other and it would be great to hear from Simon.

Yours Sincerely,

Paul Robbins.    (ex 3RTR)

Hi Paul,   I have a record of everyone who was "drafted" into SCOTS DG from both 3DG & the Greys on Amalgamation Day (July '71). There is a L/Cpl  S. Hardy listed, but I'm afraid I personally have no knowledge of him because I went to "D" (Independent) Sqn based in Edinburgh from that date, whilst your pal probably went with the main body of the Regiment to BAOR. Although I rejoined the main body of the Regiment 2 years later in Herford I cannot recollect seeing / hearing of Simon (Jim) Hardy there, but that's not to say he wasn't still serving - if no one else on here can help, I suggest you try the SCOTS DG Facebook site (I'm not a follower on it - don't "do" FB !!) as I'm almost certain someone there will know of your old pal from Hereford. Re Jim Hardy did he live in Canon Pyon at the Spitfire? If so he re-badged on amalgamation. Dave mason.

Hello Paul, looking into the last Feather 7 Carbine for 1971 I found a Tpr Hardie 0n page 38 which lists   those who were rebadged upon amalgamation . I know the spelling is different, and there is no initial but you can see this guy was rebadged to the 2nd Tanks, just one below your Regiment. I hope this helps you in your search for your mate. best regards Bob
