Dear Sir
I wondered if you could help me to find some information for my Daddy.

He was in the 3rd Carabiniers stationed at Perom Down, Tidworth, Hampshire in 1951. He was then transferred to Divisional Headquarters 6th Armoured division to Bullford.

He was then transferred to the BAOR (British Army on the Rhine) at Herford.

His GOC was Major Prior-Palmer. His CO was Major Brown.

My Daddy was a Despatch Rider - Don R - Regimental Policeman German SS Barracks at Herford.

Also, he was the Guard on Duty when the King died. The GOC called and my Dad answered the phone. The GOC said, "Who is speaking?" My Dad answered, "Corporal Jones Sir". The GOC then said, "Put the flag at half mast". My Dad replied, "May I ask why Sir ?". In a very sad voice, the GOC said, "The King is dead".

My Dad was then transferred to Bunde where he stayed utnil he was De-mobbed in 1952.

He then served 3 years in reserve - CO to the CO to the 3rd Carabonaniers.

He would very much like to visit the regiment wherever they are stationed. He wonders if it is at Edinburgh Castle ?

Any information you have would be very much appreciated.

He makes me very proud.

Thank you for sparing the time to read this.

Yours faithfully
Aly Jones
