1. Did anyone else know that Scotland’s new tax increases adversely affected our soldiers serving there? I always thought regardless of where you came from or where you were serving the tax was paid to the central treasury? According to today’s DT Gavin Williamson, SoS Defence, has said it would affect 8000 service folk and he was taking steps to redress the matter!

2.Starting 1 April, increased VED rates for all new diesels that don’t meet the recently introduced RDE2 standards, bigger engine cars could face an increase in their first year of £500! I’m sure I read somewhere that Toyota have said they will cease selling diesels in the UK from 2019. The writing is on the wall, after all the years we were encouraged to switch to diesel.

3. Another mass child abuse ring is emerging in Telford where the signs are that over 1000 young girls were involved, the enormity of it would appear to even overshadow the Rotherham and other recent abuse and grooming rings that have been dealt with.

4. The  city of Salisbury is reeling from the revelation that hundreds of them may have been contaminated by the nerve agent used to try to assassinate the former Russian spy and his daughter. The risk is fairly minute by all accounts but the backlash to the delay in announcing it is quite vociferous. That aside, I thought to myself if this is proven to be a Russian state organised crime isn’t it tantamount to an act of war? Yes, I know, we have nothing to go to war with! We’ll likely send Putin a strongly worded letter. He’ll respond by cutting off our gas supplies.

Any thoughts ??

Point 1 - No, I didn't know that either ! Point 2 - Surely ALL new diesel engines now manufactured are EU 6 compliant, therefore I reckon it's fake news that any tax increase will apply. Toyota have stated they will not make diesel engines for any market, not just the UK - this could backfire on them, because many are still very wary of committing to EV's, to their hybrids that have CVT gearboxes ( a really bad choice IMO), and petrol engines lacking sufficient torque to pull caravans etc. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Skoda are all investing heavily in even more efficient diesel engines, and with the recent rise in Co2 emissions from petrol cars I can see a reversal in fortunes for the much maligned diesel engine cars. The Government need to recognise the merits of MODERN diesels, and state their intentions on taxing them & the fuel itself. This would, if favourable , increase car sales again & bring some much needed credibility to the Government. Point 3 - Not heard of that one - are the suspects the usual stereo types, or a new "breed" of pervert ? Point 4 -  The delay in announcing the possible contamination risk is very poor management, but obviously done to ensure the true facts were known before spreading panic. Is Putin responsible ? Surely a much easier method, without the risk of suspicion, could have been employed to assassinate them ? Why go to the lengths of importing the nerve agent & then using it in such a manner that would obviously attract attention & point the finger so readily at Russia ? John, the new VED rates are on the DVLA official site  and in the Chancellor’s last budget statement. The rates apply, in the first year,  to new diesels that don’t meet the RDE2 standards. I’m not sure if that is the same as the Euro 6 compliance standard or not. I agree with your thoughts on the intentions of Toyota. Jaguar are launching a new I-Pace this year with a range (claimed) of a tad under 300 miles. But the car needs 10 hours to completely recharge it and where are all the roadside  charging points that will be needed. If you drive a long distance you will need to recharge the battery before  you can drive home. Fuel anxiety won’t be assuaged that easily. Then, add in the cost of the vehicles with this range, Jaguar say the new car will cost between £55 and £78K. I want to go electric next time round but only if it’s practical to do so. The Telford abuse ring seems to be a repeat of the MO and suspects in the previous crimes of this nature reported on in the media. Just heard on the news Russia is being held responsible for the nerve agent issue.

More serious than all of the above ,how is that a Spurs player falls over in the penalty area they get a penalty??? On your other points ,road tax on dirty diesels thank the German car manufacturers for fiddling the emissions for years ( but if you live in Ireland the average road tax for Land Rover or large diesel has been over €750 some upto €2k plus ) electric cars ok in the city but for distance it has to be an engine . The other point on car tax after years of being told diesel was brilliant and no road on most of cars the coffers were empty ,you all know politicians they've known for years that the EU was bad for us ,so lets blame diesels, and get more mMONEY out the public. The Russians did it ,the logic is that if Stalin had one of Lenins leutenants killed in Mexico years after he left Russia,Putin being a modern day Stalin mmmmmm. As far as the Scottish tax system goes you mean that serving in Scotland you're going to pay more tax ,mmmmmm, I wonder who the SNP government of Scotland is blaming for that ,With all that free education etc the Scots have had for years ,got to balance the books . The latest revelations on abuse from male Muslim either Pakistan or Bangladesh heritage is NO surprise, this must be happening all the country . We have this problem of racism or the powers that who are supposed to protect the community, will not investigate such reports of abuse in case they are racist Rochdale,Heywood had been reported 10 years before action was taken, then over 200 years jail sentences were passed . The liberalisation of the UK has to stop ,feck even Cadbury are now selling chocolate eggs ,not Easter eggs ,Christmas is happy holiday, gender names are being binned so everyone is a person not a man or woman ,boy or girl . So these bastards who use young white girls as sex objects ( due to there religion or race) need to be jailed after being castrated.
