If anyone deserves such an accolade, it is Kenny Daglish, known affectionately as "KK" (King Kenny). Not only did he have a playing career that was hugely successful with both Celtic & Liverpool, he also won  League titles as a manager (LFC & Blackburn Rovers) , one of which is a record for being the ONLY player/manager ever to do so. Add to that, his haul of European & domestic cup triumphs, followed by his massive influence & concern for all those affected by the Hillsborough disaster, plus the £10million he's helped raise towards the cancer charity set up by his lovely wife Marina, it is understandable that his knighthood is richly deserved and applauded by all who know of him. Sir Kenny Daglish, I salute you, you are a role model for us all (even non football followers !). John (JKW)

By and large I believe the honours and awards system has been hi jacked by the political parties as a sort of payback for financial contributions to party coffers or allegiance to party politics. However each New Year and Birthday Honours List almost always manages to contain a small number of folk who make you think, ‘ why has it taken so long for him/her to be recognised in this way’? Kenny Dalglish is one of those people. Even as a non football follower I recognise the huge  contribution he has made to sport and his untiring charity work. I also applaud his Knighthood, richly deserved, far more than so many others who have preceded him.

Bob, Liverpool FC could easily claim a vast number of players and former players in LFC colours to add to your above msg, and I for one enjoyed seeing them play, and manage, LFC, in the glory days of victories and awards..... but I am loath to mention TOO many Anfield legends. Oh NO I am not....
