The Royal Armoured Corps 1946-1990

I followed Fred Holmes link on the other 3DG site to read some interesting snippets from the book just (?) published on the Royal Armoured Corps. Lots of acknowledgements incl Freddie, Tom and JKW as well as Jim Smith R.I.P. Also saw a nice close up of Tom in his days as Brigadier’s driver and plenty of JK, resplendent in full dress and in No 2s.

Intrigued, David - what's it called ? I could be in line for "royalty payments" !! I've a feeling it's called something like "BAOR During the Cold War" or similar, and I was sent a copy by the author (resident in Canada) - to my horror, if so, then I've lent it out and cannot remember who to ! If it's a new book then it's different, "mine" was published a few years ago - either way, I'm interested in the details of title & author. I take it the "other 3DG site" you referred to is the FB version ? I'm not on it, neither a fan of either FB or Twitter 'cos I'm too much of an old fart ! John (JKW)

‘The Royal Armoured Corps 1946-1990 The Cold War’ (Images of War) is the title John, it sounds like the same one you had a copy of. I thought, perhaps mistakenly, it was a newer publication. There are 3 photos of you in it, one in full dress receiving your LS&GC from FM Sir John Stannier, one seated in the Mess in No 2’s whilst RSM and the third.........I’ve forgotten lol.

OK, so I went back into the site, opened the PDF file and waded through the photos to see which one I had forgotten. Turns out there are only (?) 2 of you John, as detailed above BUT there are 3 paragraphs about you. The book isn’t bad actually, I recognised quite a few contributors and the contents of the book seem mostly spot on. You should get your copy back it’s a reflection of British Army history now.
