Alan (Mickey) Stockton
Quote from DavidFullard on May 6, 2026, 11:04 pmAlan Mickey Stockton. Mick passed last month. I am surprised his death has not been mentioned on here given he was one of the stalwart contributors for a good while.
My short term memory is appalling following my sub arachnid haematoma but I was sure I posted something myself. I patently didn’t. Some folk were confused by the use of his true first name Alan.
I joined man’s service with Mickey. He was a Carb I was a XRH. I was a re-enlistment so I was ‘excused’ basic training and went straight into trade training. But I managed to help Mickey out by giving his intake bully, who had targeted Mickey, a good hiding. The bullying stopped from thereonin! Mickey never forgot that.
Mickey was in QM(T) Dept for much of his military career, becoming RQMS[T] in his latter service days. Unsurprisingly he had an encyclopaedic knowledge of all Tech matters.
Mickey was an all round good guy. He told a good story albeit often in a very roundabout way which only added to the fun of listening to it. His posts were often of a similar nature sometimes followed up with further explanations once he had re-read them. But always entertaining.
Mickey was one of the good guys. I am saddened by his passing.RIP old friend.
