Going Forward

So…here we are…same old Forum,  brand new site. We ‘Famous  5’ [I include Freddy] have it within our wherewithal to repay Freddy and Nick’s sterling work on the new site by using it as a medium of debate snd discussion. As I have said before, there are few regimental reminisces left that haven’t been discussed over and over but there are so many other topical subjects worthy of our opinions and discussion.

This forum is a ‘safe place’ we are basically all kindred spirits united by the years we served together. No trolls on here, no ‘wokism’ snowflakes or grammar police. We can let off steam to our hearts’ content….safe as I say.  Let’s make a concerted effort to keep  the Forum alive and thriving. There ARE lots of ‘passive’  members who read our posts.

Incidently this new site is high tech  Lol. I accidently posted this before I  had finished it and then I saw the ‘edit’ facility, back to my post I came, to finish  it.The teething issues have been worth it …thanks again to Freddy and  Nick.
Stay safe

David

Well it’s different, going to take a bit getting used too , the only criticism is PURPLE aaaaahhhh ,thanks Freddy.

Purple is the adopted Colour for Pancreatic Cancer. November is World Pancreatic Cancer Month. I love the colour especially as two of us have lost loved ones to the cancer.

Welcome back Bob. The site is different and may I say a bit more sophisticated and I am sure you will enjoy it once you get used to it! Freddy

Freddy it’s nice to read what’s happening with everyone, and for David the PURPLE well losing my Kay to that particular CANCER and He’s fighting the affliction that this dreaded disease ,just KEEP going ,my Thyroid cancer was easy 2 operations and meds and check ups for the rest of my life ( since 2010) . Get into the routine of taking your meds and the BEST of Luck.

Thanks Bob, our daughter of course died of the same cancer 7 years ago this month.I get involved in Pancreatic Cancer awareness and charity work this time of the year. Our ITV regional news programme [Calendar] featured Diana and my cancer story on Tuesday both on the 6pm and 10pm news. I hour of filming  and interviewing me beside and on the beach by our holiday home produced 6 minutes of TV but our gorgeous girl’s photo lit up the TV screen.
As for meds, not counting my 5 daily insulin injections I take 14 tablets at breakfast and 8 before bed. She who must be obeyed is the Tablet Controller, V fills the daily am/pm tablet marked tablet containers and presents them to me. I have no idea what she is feeding me drug wise but I have noticed hair sprouting on my ears lately Lol.

David hairy ears ,mmmm,me too for most of the last decade. Ref pills .my Mum had diabetes,my sister and her 3girls and their female children too,it’s something I grew up with watching my grandad inject my grandma 2/3 times a day back in the 50’s and the needles then where huge and were boiled bbrrrrr. My Mother was 16/17 pills a day used to frighten my then young kids at what Nana was taking Funny thing though none of the males got diabetes at a young age only when got in their doting.I’ve my next M O T on the 4 of December, you know the form bloods etc etc ,but if it keeps me going what the hell ,I can enjoy my family not like my siblings who died early, best of luck to ALL
