Posts Or Perish.
Quote from DavidFullard on February 3, 2024, 11:36 pmSo we have a Sinn Fein First Minister of Northern Ireland. That appointment almost certainly heralds the beginning of a concerted effort to effect a referendum on a United Ireland.
We live in interesting and changing times. I was going to carry on the theme of my opening sentence and post a synopsis of similar news snippets for discussion, there are many that spring to mind. Except a prerequisite for a discussion is the contribution of at least one other person to it. And then I happened to glance at the listings of topics on the site and their authors. My name appears far too often on that list!
The site has a long-standing, small cohort of circa six contributors, including Freddie Peal. As many of you will know the site has recently undergone a major improvement program paid for by the donations of a small number of members. Freddie and his son initiated those improvements and continue to administer the site gratis.
For the site to have any chance of longevity, it needs contributions. Posts are its life blood. No posts, no site. There are 230+ members registered to the site and the posts from the half dozen or so regular contributors attract a readership that massively outweighs the contributors’ numbers. It SEEMS lots of you pop in and out to read what is posted but none of you want to contribute. I have no idea why! I wish one or two of you would tell us.This site is one of the few social media sites where kindred spirits can opine freely without fear of being trolled or abused. It is obvious from my prolific posts that I enjoy the site. But that enjoyment of and support for the site is waning. We NEED more contributions. Tell us about your experiences in the regiment(s) share anecdotes, reminiscences, good times, bad times. Feel free to offer different opinions to those being posted, write whatever you want to ….just please post something. Without more contributors sooner or later the site will fade away.
It’s a case of posts or perish!

Quote from fpeall on February 5, 2024, 12:10 pmDavid! Sixty posts ffs as they say in social media but it is true where is everyone? There were lots of anecdotal posts in the old days which kept the site alive and buzzing. So come on you Carbs lets have a few tales of yore. On Brilon 64 we had a good soaking on one occasion even to my socks which I carefully laid out on the exhaust whilst they cooled down. Of course move now came up and off we went. Sometime afterwards Geordie Wilkinson my radio operator (Geordie by name and a real Geordie so quite unintelligible for a softysoutherner) said you remember those socks you put on the exhaust? Well as you can imagine there was a blackened outline of a pair of incinerated socks and much merriment from within the callsign. Called it a tank on air once and got a bollocking from the Sqn Leader. It's a callsign and you have just given your situation to the Russians! I am sure we all saw the 'old boy' army film. Freddy
