Privacy And Dignity is A Basic Right

I am not often irked by media speculation, hyperbole and rhetoric but the effect it-has had on the Princess of Wales in pressurising her to make a public declaration of her cancer diagnosis is appalling, in my opinion.
The Princess, whilst articulate and poised, appeared clearly visibly and audibly vulnerable. I thought back to when our own daughter was given her diagnosis at a similar age. Her stoicism as she faced the turmoil in our family, the dread, the tears, the distraught children along with the very mention of the  ‘C’ word, all whilst dealing with her own fears. The Princess will have fared no differently.
The Princess of Wales is an elegant, regal and beautiful young woman. But beneath the tinsel, tiaras, pomp and circumstance she is still ‘just’ a mother and a wife…like millions of others. Despite her public persona, her title, her tax funded status, she is still entitled to the same basic rights of privacy and dignity as anyone else, particularly regarding  intimate and confidential details of her personal health.
The Princess is undergoing chemotherapy, a treatment that has many potential unpleasant side effects. She and the Prince have had to carefully plan the statement to protect their 3 children. They should not have been pressurised into doing so. Statements that the Princess was recuperating  following abdominal surgery should have sufficed. In my opinion.

The press are behaving in a disgusting manner lately, the phone hacking latterly and then accusations on a daily basis  against individuals sicken me to the point I NEVER buy a newspaper now. I watch the headlines on Sky's Press Review on late night tv, amazed at the complete contradictions made over the same subject,   such obvious lies in some cases. With regards The Princess of Wales, she deserves complete privacy but I fear the leeches of the scum 'papers will try every trick in the book to dredge up stories whether true or false. Will Harry & Meghan step into the breech to help out with the Royal duties with Kate & William naturally unable to fulfil them all ? The Queen Consort has apparently offered to step in & help, but she's not as young as she was either (like the rest of us !). Surely Harry must squirm with embarrassment when Royal Duty shortfalls are mentioned ? If he's any decency he will use the predicament The Royal Family are in now to come "back into the fold", assisting HIS family rather than deserting them.   John (JKW)
