Reasons To Be Cheerful 1,2,3 [ or not]

1.Beards in the army are now allowed by all ranks…and genders. No wispy bum fluff, no hillbilly beards.
2. Transexual soldiers can not only sport beards they can opt to be accommodated with female soldiers.
3. Angela Raynor is keeping a low profile! Hopefully the truth about her former home and living arrangements will be fully investigated by police and HMRC!

4.The reservoirs are all full, very full. It has been the wettest 18 months since records began. Global warming is a myth! Not!
5. The new Scottish ‘Hate Crime Bill’ went live yesterday and attracted 400 complaints to Police….. about First Minister [and former Nicola Sturgeon acolyte] Useless Yusuf. JK Rowling’s challenge to Scottish Police to arrest her  was declined!
6. FM Yusuf is the first SNP leader not to have been arrested by police.
7. Darts, Pool, Billiards and Snooker are all designated as ….sports!
8. LED headlights that dazzle drivers at night are the subject of an official Government review. I have to wear anti dazzle specs if I drive after dark!
9. The Government plan to crack down on rough sleeping will not include arresting homeless people just because they smell…a Minister has announced. Imagine being homeless, broke, hungry, ill AND smelly…reason enough for arrest surely?
10. Lizzo has announced she will no longer perform, she is fed up being trolled. Weighing 20+ stone and wearing skimpy thongs over ‘nude’ bodysuits probably didn’t help her cause. ……Not fat shaming just saying!
11. NATO is working up a 5 year ‘Trump Proof’ finance package worth £79 billion in military aid for Ukraine. Who really believes Putin will allow that war to continue another 5 years?
12.Labour has promised to continue the Tory trend of neutering our armed forces through underfunding.
13. The triple lock 8.5% State Pension rise will push 600,000 OAPs into paying tax for the first time on their pensions. It is a result of the Government’s stealth tax that has delayed any annual rise in the tax free allowance for another 4 years. In that time a further 1.5 million OAPs will be dragged into paying tax.
( not sure as  76 year old 40% tax payer I am sympathetic)

14. That erstwhile national treasure the Post Office has put forward plans to decrease 2nd class mail to every other day deliveries Mon-Fri. Ist class mail will not be affected, Who can afford stamps these days?  It’s cheaper to  buy an iPad or use your mobile phone! The PO can’t be strapped for cash from paying compensation to wrongly convicted Sub Post Masters, most are still waiting to be compensated.

15.Lots of folk are reading our posts! Sadly 99% of you don’t contribute! You’ve read this post, don’t you feel a bit guilty about not contributing? Aren’t you fed up reading my drivel and JKW’s posts all the time? Surely you have read stuff on here that you disagree with? Why not tell us. I bet you have war stories or reminisces that are really interesting…why not just share them?

David with all that’s gone on in my life in the last 3 years with Kay’s treatment for CANCER and HER PASSING I must admit I’ve been otherwise occupied,I didn’t realise HOW MUCH PAPERWORK is required for the establishment. It’s only now after all their time I’m getting some semblance in my life and of the Kids and Grandkids let ALONE the LOVE of my life not being here (57 years) . YES I went to Goa for a holiday and IT was needed ,you know yourself what the CHEMO over a 2/3 year period does to FAMILIES and RECIPIENTS plus health problems to the LOVE of Your life. I was Lucky back in 2009 my CANCER was operable,2 OPS chemo and I’m still here ,just had my ANNUAL visit to CORK hospital and bloods ( got an ALL CLEAR for another Year ).
So some of the SUBJECTS are or were not FIRST on my agenda that were put on this site, maybe now that with TIME I will try and get my life back to Normal ( but who knows never being in this situation before)  . So DAVID best of luck with your HEALTH and KEEP AT IT .

Bob, we are now friends on fb if ever you need a ‘shoulder’  I am only a message away.
Point 15 was certainly not aimed at you, Cliff or Mickey and definitely not John.
I am all too well aware of the grief after the passing of a dearly loved one. As you know we nursed Diana through her 9 months of chemotherapy and passing. My own dalliance with pancreatic cancer, the diagnosis, the surgery in the middle of Covid, the biopsy results and not good prognosis followed by 6 months of toxic chemotherapy were as much a strain on Veronika as me..
i know what you are talking about old friend. The chemotherapy with its side effects, the anxious wait for scan results, the stomach churning when they aren’t that good. And then after all the pain, the anxiety and the hope,  we lose that person. I was a wreck after Diana died. I know where you are and I understand. As an aside I felt the loss of Kay too, as a friend and lovely person whom I was honoured to be a mentor to during her long and truly brave fight against this insidious cancer.
Freddie will understand your words also having lost his beloved wife not that long ago and now feeling occasional loneliness I’m sure.
The site shouldn’t be a priority to you, you should be your priority. Come back when you are ready we wish your sometimes unique take on things.
