Rwanda: Some Questions
Quote from DavidFullard on December 10, 2023, 12:07 am92% of all illegal boat people to the UK last year claimed asylum. Of the [admittedly small] cohort of boat immigrants whose claims were heard, 86% were granted Protected Status.
Just over 52:000 illegal boat people landed on our shores last year. They accounted for 85% of all illegal refugees to the UK.
Almost half of the boat people came from Syria, Somalia, Iran and Afghanistan. . Last year circa 1:2 million LEGAL refugees entered the country. The right to deport illegal immigrants to Rwanda has been a defining factor in Rishi Sunak’s tenuous Prime Ministerial Reign thus far and continues to be so. Next week Parliament will debate yet another Rwanda bill that is opposed by the opposition parties and is contentious within the Tory back benches
The ‘Rwandan Solution’ has so far cost 3 Secretaries of State and, according to the Government, £300 million in cash! The latter figure is supposedly but a fraction of the hitherto accumulated hotel costs. There has to date of course been not a single flight or refugee landed in Rwanda.
Finally as a point to ponder, the UN has declared Rwanda to be an unsafe country for refugees to be deported yet it actively ‘relocates’ displaced abandoned children there! My questions.
1. Can Rishi Sunak survive a defeated bill or even a close call?
2. Should the Rwanda Solution be abandoned anyway given the data outlined above?
3. Given Labour has absolutely no viable alternative if not Rwanda what then?
4. Is Liverpool really top of the league now?

Quote from DavidFullard on December 30, 2023, 6:52 pmA question. Rwanda has just announced it has welcomed 153 Libyan refugees relocated to their country by the United Nations under the UNHCR Refugee Programme.
Can this be THE United Nations that opposes the UK Rwanda plan declaring Rwanda unsafe? Just asking!
