The Truth The Whole Truth And Nothing……
Quote from DavidFullard on November 10, 2023, 10:08 amThe knives are out for the Home Secretary. Her crime? Speaking the truth. She accused the Met of bias in its handling of Right Wing Protests versus Left Wing protests. This of course refers to the ongoing saga of The Commissioner’s refusal to seek a ban on the Pro Palestinian Protest march planned for Armistice day.
Ms Braverman evidences her claim against the Met inter alia by referral to the Met’s well documented OTT handling of the protests surrounding the murder of Sarah Everard during Covid, against their far laxer and more tolerant handling of the BLM Protests in the same timeframe. I confess I too found the difference in the policing of the 2 marches stark and unjustifiable.
Suella Braverman undoubtedly has her eye on the Tory leadership role. A charismatic, accomplished orator, she is the darling of of the Tory ‘Right Wing’ benches but viewed with a mixture suspicion and jealousy by many others.
Ms Braverman is almost unique, being a woman of colour and the daughter of immigrants, in speaking out forcefully against the illegal boat immigrants that plague our shores. During a recent speech she spoke of her parents arriving here during a ‘wind of change’ but asserted we now faced a hurricane of immigrants. The protests at that TRUTH still reverberate in some parts of Westminster!I gather Ms Braverman’s future is being discussed behind closed doors as I type this post. She helped Sunak gain office, her dismissal as Home Secretary would be unwise in my opion. Starmer is calling the PM weak for not sacking her. Rishi Sunak needs to counter that accusation by proving his strength of character by maintaining that position.
The truth is oftentimes unpalatable and difficult to deal with. We are surrounded by mealy mouthed politicians many of whom bow to the demands of the fringe minority groups. Reparation for colonialism and the slave trade, Trans rights trumping ‘women born women’ rights, support for Palestine trumping Israel’s right to eradicate HAMAS etc etc. In such times the truth is often lost in appeasement of the few over the ‘rights’ of the many.
We need more of Suella Braverman’s ilk in my opinion.
