Yet More Ramblings
Quote from DavidFullard on January 29, 2024, 10:44 pmRwanda: Let me get it over with. The ‘Lords’ are currently preparing to tear the plan apart with barely disguised delight and alacrity. The ECHR Chief Judge has condemned any idea of theUK defying the court’s ruling. I simply cannot see any illegal immigrants actually being sent to Rwanda. The plan’s death throes will arrive at the latest after the next GE.
The African psychopath who stabbed 3 people to death and drove a van into 3 pedestrians was charged with manslaughter and ‘escaped’ to a secure hospital unit. Theoretically he can apply for release in 3 years. The NHS and Police are being investigated concerning his pre murder rampage behaviour. The CPS Head has defended her decision to downgrade the murder charge in light of pre trial psychiatric reports. Words of surprise and disgust at the outcome of his charge and sentence pale into insignificance judged against the added grief caused to the victims’ families. Such a sad and abysmal reflection on our justice system.
The PO Scandal. As I thought, there WAS knowledge of the Horizon faults at Government level BEFORE the more recent revelations. The PM seemingly said the finding was of great concern. Will we now see one or more erstwhile PO Ministers in the dock along side PO CEOs/Senior staff, ditto Fujitsu Staff? I very much doubt it. I am now rapidly forming the opinion so many high ranking people knew of the Horizon faults and were either responsible for, or at least complicit in the cover up of it, that no-one will be brought to justice. That, and the delay in exonerating and actually paying commensurate compensation to all sub postmasters involved in the scandal, is appalling and a national disgrace.
We accidentally bought some vegan soya bean ‘BBQ Ribs’. The picture on the box they were in made them look extremely appetising. Only a few days later when defrosting them did we see the [ to my mind far too small] print describing their actual soya bean composition. We are not faint hearted we decided to try them. Reader(s) I kid you not the taste resembled how I would imagine burnt sea grass would taste. Not rancid but ‘yuck’ nevertheless. The first morsel failed the spit test ergo oral evacuation into the waste bin. The second taste try ditto. The dog, an unashamed canine glutton, wolfed them down. I had a boiled egg! I can’t understand how manufacturers can plaster pictures of ribs on packaging when the contents are made with mown grass! Don’t get me started on Vegan ‘sausages’ There is NO such thing. Sausages are made of meat. The imposters are plant based substances rolled to LOOK like sausages! Note to self when shopping, more haste less speed.
Has anyone figured out why 2 multi £ billion RN aircraft carriers are sat in docks while some rag, tag and bobtail Iranian funded Yemeni terrorist knobs are drone bombing British merchant ships?
And then we come to the self destruction of the Tory Party. The one man coup by Sir Phillip Clarke ended as expected but the divisions within the Tory back benches are deep and rife. Meanwhile Starmer appears to be adopting a low profile allowing the Tories to make the now inevitable case for a Labour Government at the next GE all on their own. He has been told less is more and he should rely on the Tories’ incessant internal destruction to distract folk from asking about actual policie and plans he might have to run the country. Folk are now looking at the least worst option and Labour currently is IT…Ugh.
Westminster is withdrawing funding to the UN in Gaza after it emerged a dozen or so UN workers aided HAMAS in the October 7th massacre. Scotland’sFirst Minister continues to supply funds to them. I’m sure he does so out of humanitarian grounds rather than the fact his family were caught up in the Gaza war or that he allowed his heritage to sway his emotions!
Jurgen Klopp verlasst LFC. He is leaving Liverpool at the end of this season. I know zilch about football but Jurgen Klopp has always struck me as a very balanced and talented football manager. I’m sure he will be missed.
Finally. A remark I heard on the Graham Norton show by a Scottish comedian talking about Boris’s exhortations to Germany to send more tanks to Ukraine to fight against Russia. It’s like encouraging an alcoholic to have just one more drink. My [German born] wife understood the irony but missed the humour!
Stay safe, stay well, stay happy. If anyone is fed up with my ramblings and wittering on feel free to respond to my posts or anyone else’s.

Quote from fpeall on January 30, 2024, 11:50 amDavid. ramblings they may be but you are our personalised news blog! You have covered most of the items that make ones blood boil. Beware of what you ask for in terms of our collective blood pressures. You have covered most topics succinctly but as to the aircraft carriers my understanding is that they require a support vessel that carries stores and fuel to accompany them and these RFA ships they have been unable to crew and put to sea. This morning I read the RAF have no early warning radar planes. The RAF retired its fleet of seven E-3 sentry planes in 2021 to be replaced by Boeing planes whose delivery has been delayed so for the moment we are defenceless! This is described as a short term capability gap which will last three years. We now rely on our friends in NATO.
I for one are happy for you to keep on your ramblings! Freddy
